Have jumped into this document on several occasions, and everytime want to pick different guidelines to concentrate on, now it is time to make a decision. For now I will be looking at
Learner-centred
TD1 Is the use of e-learning the best way to achieve the
intended learning outcomes?
I often get approached to wrote and implement an e-learning programme as people see it as the great answer to all their problems. We need to keep asking ourselves - just because we can, should we be doing it?
Good Practice
TT6 Are online activities available that will enable students to
assess their learning?
This is an area that I need to develop more, although I have been including activities. quizes etc, I feel that this area needs some work.
Collaboration
TT13 Does the teacher evaluate the e-learning during the course to identify its effectiveness and how to improve it?
Again, an area that needs more work. It is easy to provide an e-learning module, publish it, and make it available to our staff, but we also need to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our users. Is it being used. We can build it, but will they come? What else can we do to make e-learning an effective learning tool for our staff?

Evaluation Presentation
I watched this with interest - took me a few days though to get through it all. I started off one lunch time, thought I could multi-task eat and watch and listen at the same time, however I found my mind wondered and interruptions happened.
Interesting material though, once I got through it all.
I have been doing lots of reading in "chunks". I am not sure that this is the best way to be doing this, but for the moment, it is all I can manage. I don't seem to be able to devote any long periods of time to this - work is very busy, and home seems to be even busier.
On reading the case study, I could identify with the student's preference for audio. This they can listen to while driving, at the gym, (as stated), or even if they were out walking.
In years past I dictated notes onto a cassette tape (before CD'S) and played them while driving on the motorway - it worked in filling in the time sitting in traffic.

My first blog
This is my first blog. My name is Barbara Gerbich, I am L&D Advisor Technologies at Manukau City Council.
What does this title mean? I am responsible for the technology training for council staff - not necessarily doing it, but influencing, coercing and bribing people to participate in the learning experience. These people that I persuade, ever so gently, are the SME's in their subject, but are usually not confident delivers/ facilitators, so I work with them to make it a good experience for everyone.
I also write e-learning which is provided for staff who cannot attend, or may not need to attend a class room session. This is often for something, like an upgrade to software - not something that necessitates taking time out to come to a classroom, but has information they need to know. So we give an option of e-learning.
We also use it as a blended learning solution. One way is some pre-learning to our Corporate Orientation workshop we hold every two months. It delivers information that people need to know about working at MCC, but hopefully in a more interesting way than having it all delivered in the workshop.
Our team also looks at providers of e-learning to see if it has relevance for our staff. We are constantly looking at different and better ways of helping our staff learn.
Over the last couple of years I have also been looking at methods of calculating Return on Investment of the workshops etc we provide. I have learnt heaps.
I am hoping that this course will assist in enabling me evaluate my own e-learning and the e-learning of external providers.
